The Cons:Somewhat expensive for a 17" model, 19" for this price are easy to find. Brightness adjusts automatically and somewhat drastically between dark and light screens. Dims inexplicably during BIOS reading.

The Viewsonic VA705b is a 17" LCD monitor from Viewsonic's Value Series.  The monitor features a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels with a 5ms response time and a contrast ratio of 1000:1.
