Samsung SyncMaster 2243SWX

$200.00 Released February, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Fast enough response for serious gamers, no blur or stutter. Very bright, has no problems in a brightly lit room. Colors are vivid and stand out, makes it easier to spot movement in games and find icons.

The Cons:Not much range of adjustability with the stand. Viewed from slightly above or below results in a noticeably distorted picture.

The 2243SWX is a mid-range model in Samsung's SyncMaster line of computer monitors. The 21.5", widescreen LCD display has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080, a brightness of 300 cd/m2, and a dynamic contrast ratio of 15000:1.

These specs, along with a response time of 5 ms, place the 2243SWX at about the midpoint of Samsung's consumer display offerings, although few models at its sub-$200 price point feature full HD resolution. Lacking the versatility of some other SyncMaster models, which can be arm-mounted and adjusted in various ways, the 2243SWX appears targeted more toward home uses, especially entertainment, with support for HDCP within its DVI interface, and a low-power mode which reduces consumption to below 1 W.
