HP L2208w
$225.00
Released December, 2005
The Pros:High 1680x1050 resolution, as opposed to 1280x800 or 1440x900, the former would have been disappointing for a monitor this size. Good display quality for the price, good colour accuracy. Good brightness and contrast ratios, good for general word processing, especially because its a non-reflective display.
The Cons:Lacks digital video inputs (HDMI, DVI). Only tilt adjustments, no height adjustments, not so ergonomic for a monitor in this price range (similar products from Dell are fully adjustable). Disappointing viewing angles, only 160 degrees horizontally, even less so vertically.
The L2208w, a 22" LCD monitor, was the largest model in HP's 'Essential' line of entry-level business displays until it was replaced by the mostly identical LE2201w. The widescreen panel is designed for office users who require a large work area but not a high-end feature set.

Like its successor, the L2208w features a 1680x1050 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 5ms response time. The older model, however, is brighter than the LE2201w. The monitor is tilt-adjustable, but somewhat limited by 160-degree viewing angles. It is also relatively energy-efficient, an important consideration for large businesses, qualifying for Energy Star.
