Dell UltraSharp 2007FP
$414.00
Released January, 2008
The Pros:Large work area, makes it easy to set the font size large and relaxes the eyes. USB ports on the side are handy and work well. Simple and clean bezel design with a great minimalist stand.
The Cons:Protective coating on the screen isn't always applied evenly, looks a little odd sometimes. On-screen menus aren't intuitive, tricky to navigate. At the highest 1600x1200 resolution it's a little hard on the eyes.
The Dell UltraSharp 2007FP is a 20-inch Flat Panel Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand released in 2008 and retails at $414. It comes with a stunning 1600x1200 resolution and provides 16ms typical response time for crisp and clear images when using fast motion video.

Its contrast ratio is a little disappointing: 800:1 (one would expect at least 1000:1 for this kind of price, the $300 HP w2338h provides 3000:1). It is well praised for how flexible it is, it can be adjusted vertically up to 5 inches above the surface, and it can be rotated either way 45 degrees, with compliant video cards users can see the monitor in portrait mode, which makes viewing webpages, spreadsheets and photo albums much more convenient. It has analog as well as digital (DVI-D) inputs, and has all the ports one needs. It must be noted that this piece comes with a 4:3 image aspect ratio only, which unlike most high end monitors at this price level would be 16:9. Overall critics are very happy with this piece and say it provides excellent value for money.
